Situated on the lakeshore of Ammersee, I was in for a treat to photograph this house that overlooks one of the Bavarian lakes in Fünfseenland.
With ample daylight hours during summer, photographing houses at this time of year affords some breathing space on a day shoot.
Adjacent to the shingle-clad family house was a wooden beach hut that served up Barista-quality coffee and tasty dark chocolate Florentina's – which had kept me fuelled up on regular intervals throughout the fourteen-hour-long shoot.
Photographing architecture over an entire day can reap the rewards. To capture the building at its best, I moved slowly, observed the light as it changed and bore a little patience.
The extra time between motifs granted me an opportunity to experience and get a genuine feel for the architecture, which in turn positively influenced the photography.
